What Can invision Monitor and Control?

invision is more than a monitoring tool, the system now support soft reboots of certain control processors as well as outlet and bank control of many of the leading power manufacturers UPS and PDU units. invision also serves as a powerful documentation tool, allowing you to easily access the information on devices.

There are many ways to monitor devices. In this document we explore the differences in details that invision can monitor as well as how ihiji is working directly with manufacturers to expose more valuable information for dealers. It is also important to note that the growth of smart and connected devices is growing rapidly and the importance and ability to monitor those devices will continue to grow. The following resources will help you understand this:

What Can Be Monitored?

Many dealers have asked us to help them better understand what devices can be monitored. This is a difficult question to answer because technically you can monitor:

  • Any IP Device – A simple ping is very powerful. Telling you if the device is online, plugged in and responsive.
  • Well known ports and services – Monitoring standard ports and services such as HTTP, FTP, Telnet or SSH.
  • Any IP Device Supporting SNMP – For access to detailed information you can use SNMP with invision to monitor fine details.
  • Any RS-232, Zigbee, AxLink or Cresnet Device – Full detail of 2-way devices behind certain control processors.
  • IP Based AV Devices – To monitor non-standard and accessible services such as bulb life, battery age, input voltage, temperature or error status ihiji writes custom monitoring modules.

ihiji’s invision Ready Manufacturers

invision Ready Manufacturers have partnered with ihiji to provide test equipment and additional support to ensure that their products work with ihiji with the least amount of effort. This is a new program that we encourage you to talk to your preferred manufacturers about. If you are a manufacturer interested in joining please contact info@ihiji.com or call 512.538.0520.

What If My System Isn’t Listed Here?

If your control system isn’t listed here that does not mean we cannot monitor your system and that you should give up on us! The first thing you want to do is apply a bandaide to your systems and “stop the bleeding”. You’ll more than likely get 90% functionality without full control system integration as you can monitor online/offline and other details of the IP based control system equipment. Additionally, you’ll still want to monitor the core network, including switches, access points and router, as well as the IP based AV equipment. This is a huge improvement on anything you’re able to do today and carries huge value – there is no reason to put it off.

Part of our ongoing development efforts involve working with manufacturers for further integration and this doesn’t cost you anything additional. ihiji has been in contact with almost every major control system manufacturer and much of our integration relies on their support. If your control system isn’t supported or functionality is limited we recommend you email your manufacturer to request integration and copy support@ihiji.com.

What Can invision Control?

The invision gives dealers the ability to remotely reboot individual outlets or banks of outlets with a single click of a button from within the invision interface. ihiji’s solution brings this capability to almost any IP based PDU, UPS or surge protector from the leading manufacturers in the industry. Additionally, the invision solution can currently perform soft reboots without a power unit on control systems processors from AMX, Control and Crestron. Recommended Manufacturers

Many dealers have asked us “what is the ideal system to monitor.” We recognize that some dealers would like to focus on products that offer the best feedback and our invision Ready Manufacturer partner program is designed to make this easiest for both dealers and manufacturers. However, this is a new program so below we have compiled a brief synopsis of the devices that we feel work best and offer the most insightful information to our systems. This list is not exhaustive, and will be changing getting more inclusive with every new model that is released by various manufacturers.

Please remember that monitoring information is very dependent on manufacturer and each model so always be sure to consult your manufacturer about what specific models can provide monitoring details to outside systems.
